On Sunday, May 5, the Chennai Super Kings defeated the Punjab Kings by 28 runs to secure their sixth win in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Ravindra Jadeja was the star performer for CSK with both bat and ball, scoring a match-defining 43 off 26 before picking up three wickets for 20 runs. Batting first, CSK posted 167 runs at a loss of nine wickets with PBKS' Rahul Chahar and Harshal Patel picking up three wickets each. Punjab batters failed to stitch a decent partnership as they managed 139 runs at a loss of nine wickets in 20 overs.

Kolkata demolish Lucknow by 98 runs and jump to top spot on points table

Kolkata Knight Riders registered a dominant 98-run win over Lucknow Super Giants to clinch the top spot on the points table. The second-placed Knight Riders pipped league leaders Rajasthan Royals, who maintained a strong hold on the top of the table by winning eight out of ten games. On the other hand, the Super Giants went down to the fifth spot as this loss took a massive hit on their net run rate. For KKR, Sunil Narine scored  81 in 39 balls to help Kolkata post 235 runs on the board. In the second innings, Kolkata bowlers  bundled out the Super Giants at 137 in 16.1 overs.
